Spring should bring renewal, but Maura McKnight-Parker cannot escape the past. Still reeling from the loss of one daughter, the former free spirit is thrown for a loop by the return of her older daughter, Sage, and the reappearance of her first love, Sage's father. Jackson Lange never knew his daughter—never even knew that he'd left the love of his life pregnant when he fled their small town—but he has never forgotten Maura. Now they are all back, but Sage has her own secret, one that will test the fragile bonds of a reunited family. Thrown together by circumstances and dedicated to those they love, Maura and Jackson must learn to move forward and let go of the mistakes of their past for the bright future that awaits them and their friends in Hope's Crossing.

My Thoughts:
I knew Maura's story was going to be a somewhat emotional read. This one really took my emotions to a whole new level.  This book to me represented a full circle; the loss of a child, the meeting of a child, and the beginning of a new life, a story filled with hope and joy.  For those who may be wondering, I recommend you reading the first two books in this series, Blackberry Summer and Woodrose Mountain. It's not that you will feel lost, as the author gives you plenty of background, but the first two stories really help with understanding the characters and their lives in Hope's Crossing.

I loved Jackson, I don't think RaeAnne could have created a better character to suit Maura.

Maura's oldest daughter comes home for the holidays, and brings home a surprise! This was a warm and romantic story. The ending was a bit unexpected, I won't give it away, as I hate spoilers. But needless to say, you as a reader may ponder if the decision that Maura and Jackson make will bond the family together or will Sage have second thoughts...  Very heartbreaking if that were to happen.
I am so glad that I found RaeAnne, she will be on my auto buy and will always be welcomed on my book shelves.

The scene that had me crying like a baby, was the memorial service for Layla. The beautiful and emotional moment of the release of the "flutties" was perfect, moving and simply the single most poignant message that we all can take from this lovely book.

"Butterfiles are symbols of hope. They land beside us, like sunbeams, and belong to us for a moment, but then they fly away. And while we wish they might have stayed longer to share their beauty, we feel blessed for having seen them."

RaeAnne Thayne explores second chances, a very poignant, sometimes emotional read. The bond between mother and daughter, father and daughter and father and son—and the healing magic of Love and of course, the Angel of Hope.
